Rush Poker is the most talked-about innovation in the world of internet poker in the last few years. It’s found exclusively at Full Tilt Poker and offers wild action for six-handed and full ring formats. The games offered include No Limit Hold’em as well as Pot Limit Omaha and a wide range of stakes can be played. Players enjoy Rush Poker because they see anywhere from three to four times the number of hands than in a regular game.
In a recent announcement, Full Tilt Poker added Rush Poker tournaments. This new format allows tournament players to enjoy the excitement of the game in a wide range of buy-ins. Players entering a Rush Poker tournament will be part of a large player pool and face a different table of opponents every hand. When you fold your hand, you’ll be taken instantly to a new table for the next hand.
When the field dwindles down to fewer than 30 players, tables will become short-handed to make sure the pace of the game keeps up. When the final table is reached, the game switches over to a standard format and hands will be played one at a time until the tournament is done.
Players can find Rush Poker tournaments in either view of the Full Tilt Poker lobby. From the Standard View, select “Tournament” in the first filter column. Then, select ”All,” “Hold’em,” and “No Limit” to see the list of tournaments. Rush Poker tournaments are denoted with a black “R” symbol next to the “Game” column in the lobby. To see only Rush Poker tournaments as quickly as possible, use the “Advanced Filters” in the Standard View to refine your search. When you hit that button, a pop-up will come up and on the far right side, you will see “Tournament Type,” which will have seven different options. Simply uncheck all of the options except for “Rush Tournament” and then only that tournament type will appear in the lobby.
Registration for a Rush Poker tournament works much the same way as in other events. Once you are in a Rush Poker Tournament lobby, just click the “Register Now” button. That will open up the buy-in box, where the buy-in and your account balance will be shown. Confirm how you want to buy into the tournament with the click of a button and you’ll be officially entered.
Once the tournament begins, you’ll see that the tournament is in Rush Poker mode, which will be identical in experience to the Rush Poker cash game tables. You can either wait for your turn in a hand to fold or click the “Quick Fold” button, which will fold your hand, but instantly whisk you away to a new table for the next hand. Players at your previous table will not see that you’ve folded until it’s your turn to act.
Just like in regular tournaments, posting of the blinds is completely random on the first hand of play. After that, the big blind and small blind are assigned to the two players who have gone the longest without posting. If there is a tie for who has gone the longest without posting, the blind will be randomly assigned to one of the tied players. All other seating positions are completely random from hand to hand.
Once players are eliminated to a certain point in the tournament, play will become short-handed so that Rush Poker mode can continue. When the tournament is down to 28 players, the tables become eight-handed. With 19 to 21 players remaining, play is seven-handed. Six-handed play kicks in with 16 to 18 players remaining in the field. Play goes down to five-handed when 13 to 15 players remain and, finally, play is four-handed when 10 to 12 players are left. The final table has nine players.
Rush Poker, now found in both cash game and tournament formats, is exclusively found at Full Tilt Poker.
